Some want to be heavily engaged, even joining the boards of our investment partners, while other prefer to get involved with specific efforts as their schedules permit. At every level of involvement, VPP works to provide opportunities for investors to learn, leverage and connect.

VPP regularly shares its lessons learned with its investor community.

We offer our investors a wealth of resources through our regular online updates and a special "Investor Only" section of the website. Through this private section, investors can access the extensive analysis and due diligence we conduct on our nonprofit investment partners. This analysis provides tools and insights that can be helpful for an investor's individual or family philanthropic efforts. In addition to providing online resources, we also host a number of gatherings and discussions for VPP investors where they hear from notable speakers and guests from the global philanthropic community.

Leverage
The power and potential of collective action allows VPP to maximize its impact.

In its first seven years, VPP and its nonprofit investment partners leveraged the original $31 million invested in VPP into an additional $27.2 million in new funding sources and high value partnerships. Combined with strategic assistance from VPP and its investors, this amount grows to more than $70 million that we have been able to leverage in investments in the National Capital Region. This additional investment translates into stronger, more effective nonprofit organizations that generate a social return that is measured in higher graduation rates, healthier children and youth, stronger families, and more stable, safer neighborhoods.

VPP offers its investors a variety of ways to share and learn from each other as part of a unique community. Through a combination of on- and off-line connections -- informal events for people to meet in person and online discussion forums and communications -- VPP investors leverage each other's experiences and knowledge.
