More Effective Boards

Key Results

  • More targeted execution
  • Reenergized stakeholders
  • Clear plans
  • Strategies based on data-driven, rigorous process
  • More targeted deployment of resources

The VPP investment partners made great progress building better, more effective boards. To date, partner organizations recruited 24 board members, many of whom VPP helped identify and recruit. But the overall impact is much deeper than the addition of talented and committed people-new board additions are bringing specific expertise, added influence, and improved access to funding.

See Forever Foundation completely rebuilt its board-transforming it from three active and four inactive members into a dynamic, engaged group of 15 members with deep expertise in business, education and curriculum design, real estate, fund development, law, and human resources.

"We started out with a board that was a sounding board, one that we would bring updates to, one that was sensitive to the changes of a start-up and was, in some ways, a little more hands off. Now we have a board that understands that in order for us to get to where we want to go, we need more engagement around fundraising, around advocacy, and around program planning."
